Five Night Kitchen

Use what you have

Measure rolled oats for bean patties without hiding a wet mixture

Oats are a measured binder in the black bean patties, not a free adjustment to add until the bowl looks dry. Check the oat type, remove excess bean and onion moisture, and give the planned mixture its rest before changing it.

Measure the part you can use

Use plain dry rolled oats for this worksheet. The patty dinner needs 60g for two servings, so 40g in the jar leaves a 20g shortfall. Buying an example 500g pack leaves 480g after filling that gap; it does not require a larger patty batch. Four servings need 120g of oats, but the beans, onion and other ingredients must scale with them in the complete recipe.

Choose the texture you want

Rolled flakes in a measured mixture

Drain and dry the beans, squeeze liquid from the grated onion and use the stated oat amount. The recipe rests the mixture before a small test mound is pressed. This gives the existing flakes time to take up moisture before you decide that the mixture needs correction.

A firmer patty without extra filler

If the test mound crumbles, the recipe asks you to mash more of the beans already in the bowl. If it is loose, remove excess moisture and let it rest as directed. Keep its patty thickness when changing portions, and let the crust release before turning.

Recognize a different oat product

Food Hero distinguishes thick rolled flakes from finer quick or instant oats and cut oat pieces. This patty has been written for rolled oats. A flavored instant sachet or chewy steel-cut pieces should prompt a different recipe choice, not an automatic same-weight substitution.

When the result is not quite right

A large handful poured straight from the bag cannot show whether 20g or 80g was added. Weigh the planned amount before mixing, keep the unused stock out of the bowl and use the CSV to record the allocation. Extra oats can change the bean-to-binder balance even if the mixture becomes easier to handle.

Allocate your rolled oats

Choose dinners in the list below. Stock is assigned in that order; any shortfall remains visible. This only totals rolled oats, so check every full recipe for its other ingredients and method.

No dates, freshness assessment or prepared-batch credit are applied here. This worksheet stays separate from your saved week. Select usable food and schedule it within its actual storage limits.

Open a complete week

The week opens with its own saved settings. Add your stock there to deduct it from the full shopping list.

Keep and prepare your stock

Keep unused oats tightly covered in a cool, dry place. Prepared patties follow their recipe’s storage instructions. Check the actual product label and cross-contact information; the planner’s reference oats remain included in its gluten exclusion.

Avoid this mix-up

This single-recipe worksheet can scale one dinner. To prepare repeated dinners, use the complete week’s batch records so the same 40g of pantry oats cannot be allocated twice.

Use the storage guide for prepared batches, and follow actual product labels. Our recipe and quantity checks are not a real cooking trial.
