Five Night Kitchen

Use what you have

Choose browned cubes, steamed slices or crumbled firm tofu

A block of firm tofu can stay in distinct pieces or become a filling. Choose its job before cutting, then divide the uncooked block between dinners without counting its packing water.

Measure the part you can use

Pour off the packing liquid and weigh the uncooked tofu before the recipe’s drying or pressing step. The table uses firm tofu, listed as raw in the planner. Do not weigh the container or liquid. With 700g available, the two selected dinners need 650g for two servings each, leaving 50g unassigned rather than silently enlarging a recipe.

Choose the texture you want

Browned cubes

For tofu and cabbage rice, pat the surface dry, cut the stated cubes and give them a single layer in the skillet. Let a face release before turning it. Ginger tofu noodles uses a smaller cube and a short final toss; cut the vegetables first so the browned tofu does not wait while you prepare them.

Tender steamed slices

The mushroom rice dish deliberately keeps tofu soft. Use its thick slices and shallow heatproof dish, with mushrooms above the tofu and water below the dish. Do not expect a browned crust from this method or substitute a deep pile for the stated thin arrangement.

Crumbled parcel filling

Cabbage tofu parcels uses small crumbles, grated carrot and softened leaves. Remove a puddle of excess moisture as the recipe directs before filling. Keep the parcels loose enough for steam to circulate, and check the filling as well as the outer leaf.

When the result is not quite right

Tofu breaking during turning may be too delicate for the method or may not have released from the pan. Check that the package says firm, use a broad spatula, and avoid repeatedly stirring cubes. Silken tofu is a different choice; pressing it will not turn it into a firm block.

Allocate your firm tofu

Choose dinners in the list below. Stock is assigned in that order; any shortfall remains visible. This only totals firm tofu, so check every full recipe for its other ingredients and method.

No dates, freshness assessment or prepared-batch credit are applied here. This worksheet stays separate from your saved week. Select usable food and schedule it within its actual storage limits.

Open a complete week

The week opens with its own saved settings. Add your stock there to deduct it from the full shopping list.

Keep and prepare your stock

Refrigerate opened tofu and follow its package instructions. Freezing changes its texture; do not describe a thawed block as identical to fresh tofu. For cooked portions, use the chosen recipe’s storage plan, keeping its rice and other components within their own limits.

Avoid this mix-up

Do not deduct both a raw tofu portion and its cooked batch for the same dinner. This allocation is only a raw-stock worksheet; record prepared portions in the full planner once.

Use the storage guide for prepared batches, and follow actual product labels. Our recipe and quantity checks are not a real cooking trial.
