Divide a pasta packet before choosing a sauce and cooking time
Dry pasta is easy to portion but cooked pasta carries water. Set aside the dry amount for each dinner, then choose the sauce and timing that make that portion useful rather than cooking the whole packet by habit.
Measure the part you can use
Measure uncooked pasta in grams. Mushroom pasta and lentil ragù pasta each need 160g for two servings, so the selected dinners need 320g. With 250g in the cupboard, buy or find another 70g. An example 500g packet covers the gap and leaves 430g unassigned; it does not mean all 500g should be cooked. The table records dry weight, not a cooked bowl or a volume of differently shaped pasta.
Choose the texture you want
A mushroom and pea finish
Start the mushroom work before the pasta is ready. The full recipe develops the mushroom texture and adds peas at its stated stage. Drain the pasta when its packet and doneness checks are satisfied, then combine; avoid leaving drained pasta waiting while mushrooms are still releasing water.
A thicker lentil ragù
Give the lentils time to soften and the sauce time to reach the recipe’s consistency. Begin boiling pasta when the sauce is nearly ready. The sauce’s dry lentil weight is a separate purchase line, not part of the pasta allowance.
A bean and spinach coating
Spinach and white bean pasta is another complete recipe available in the choices below. Select it instead of one dinner if its ingredients suit your stock. Change the checked recipe, update the allocation and download again so the record matches the decision you actually made.
When the result is not quite right
Do not treat every shape or fresh pasta package as having the same cooking time. A change of shape may fit the sauce, but verify the package directions. Fresh pasta is a different stock state and does not replace dry grams in this table without a recipe designed for it.
Allocate your pasta
Choose dinners in the list below. Stock is assigned in that order; any shortfall remains visible. This only totals pasta, so check every full recipe for its other ingredients and method.
320g needed · 250g from stock · 70g shortfall · 0g unassigned
| Recipe | Need | From stock | Shortfall |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mushroom and pea pasta | 160g | 160g | 0g |
| Lentil and mushroom ragù pasta | 160g | 90g | 70g |
No dates, freshness assessment or prepared-batch credit are applied here. This worksheet stays separate from your saved week. Select usable food and schedule it within its actual storage limits.
The week opens with its own saved settings. Add your stock there to deduct it from the full shopping list.
Keep and prepare your stock
Keep unused dry pasta according to its label. Prepared pasta with sauce follows the full recipe’s storage plan and the actual ingredient limits. A dry-packet date does not describe how long a cooked dinner may be held.
Avoid this mix-up
The calculated servings describe the complete recipe’s portions. They are not a universal nutrition recommendation or proof that 160g of pasta suits every household.
Use the storage guide for prepared batches, and follow actual product labels. Our recipe and quantity checks are not a real cooking trial.
