Use canned chickpeas by drained weight, not can count
A can includes both chickpeas and liquid. Drain and weigh the edible chickpeas before splitting them between a crisp salad, a mash for wraps and a warm pot.
Measure the part you can use
Use drained chickpea grams in this worksheet. The site’s 400g gross can with 240g drained chickpeas is only an example; your can may differ. Dry chickpeas and their soaking/cooking liquid are not interchangeable with these cooked, drained quantities.
Choose the texture you want
Cold salad
Use the cucumber chickpea salad for a fresh meal and follow its short storage window. Keep crisp vegetables and dressing in the order the recipe describes rather than preparing the entire week’s salad at once.
Mash for wraps
Mash to the texture requested in chickpea wraps or hummus wraps. Leave larger pieces where the recipe calls for bite, and add only its measured dressing so the filling holds in the wrap.
Warm pot or curry
Add cooked chickpeas at the recipe’s stated point. They already have a cooked interior; the potatoes, sauce or other vegetables may determine the remaining time.
When the result is not quite right
A loose mash often contains too much retained can liquid or dressing. Drain before weighing and follow the recipe’s liquid additions. Do not add uncooked dry chickpeas to a short simmer as a substitute.
Allocate your chickpeas
Choose dinners in the list below. Stock is assigned in that order; any shortfall remains visible. This only totals chickpeas, so check every full recipe for its other ingredients and method.
480g needed · 480g from stock · 0g shortfall · 0g unassigned
| Recipe | Need | From stock | Shortfall |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chickpea wraps | 240g | 240g | 0g |
| Tomato chickpea potato pot | 240g | 240g | 0g |
No dates, freshness assessment or prepared-batch credit are applied here. This worksheet stays separate from your saved week. Select usable food and schedule it within its actual storage limits.
The week opens with its own saved settings. Add your stock there to deduct it from the full shopping list.
Keep and prepare your stock
Follow the can’s opened-storage directions. For later dinners, keep unopened cans closed until needed when practical; once opened, record the actual date. Planned recipe use does not extend the food’s life.
Avoid this mix-up
Do not deduct a 400g can as 400g of drained chickpeas unless its label or your weighing actually supports that amount.
Use the storage guide for prepared batches, and follow actual product labels. Our recipe and quantity checks are not a real cooking trial.
