Use broccoli florets and stems without overcooking either
Broccoli offers two useful textures in the same head. Separate the branching florets from the firm stem, then choose a rice dinner or an oven frittata with a clear place for each part.
Measure the part you can use
Trim the dry stem end and peel the tough outside of a thick stem. Weigh the tender stem with the florets only if you will use both. The recipes use raw broccoli weight, not the weight of cooked or ice-glazed frozen pieces.
Choose the texture you want
Rice dinner
Cut peeled stem smaller than the florets so both become tender during the broccoli step. Keep pieces consistent, and use the rice recipe’s timing rather than boiling them throughout the rice cooking stage.
Oven frittata
Cook the potatoes as directed before adding the egg mixture. Drain any separately cooked broccoli well; trapped water can loosen the egg mixture. Keep the tray shallow enough for the center to set.
Reserve a later portion
If fresh broccoli will not last until your next meal, follow the linked blanching and freezing method. Record the changed state separately: this allocation worksheet is for raw broccoli, not a conversion to cooked weight.
When the result is not quite right
Brown florets and a hard stem usually mean the cuts were uneven or the heat was too intense. Make the stem pieces smaller next time. Stop cooking based on a tender stem and the recipe’s doneness checks, not color alone.
Allocate your broccoli
Choose dinners in the list below. Stock is assigned in that order; any shortfall remains visible. This only totals broccoli, so check every full recipe for its other ingredients and method.
550g needed · 550g from stock · 0g shortfall · 0g unassigned
| Recipe | Need | From stock | Shortfall |
|---|---|---|---|
| Broccoli and black bean rice | 300g | 300g | 0g |
| Broccoli and potato oven frittata | 250g | 250g | 0g |
No dates, freshness assessment or prepared-batch credit are applied here. This worksheet stays separate from your saved week. Select usable food and schedule it within its actual storage limits.
The week opens with its own saved settings. Add your stock there to deduct it from the full shopping list.
Keep and prepare your stock
Refrigerate the broccoli and any pre-cut portions. Keep the recipe’s fresh and cooked storage instructions separate. Use a tested blanching method before freezing raw portions for later cooking.
Avoid this mix-up
Do not silently replace raw broccoli grams with frozen package weight. Ice, trimming and draining change the usable amount.
Use the storage guide for prepared batches, and follow actual product labels. Our recipe and quantity checks are not a real cooking trial.
